STEM Ambassadors
STEM Ambassadors are trained and CRB checked volunteers from the worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
They are men and women of all ages from a wide range of companies and research organisations in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (MKOB). They all enjoy the work that they do and are keen to share their expertise, passion and enthusiasm with young people. There are over 300 active STEM Ambassadors in MKOB, who regularly visit schools and participate in projects, events and lessons.
As an Ambassador you have the opportunity to:
- Gain a fresh perspective on day-to-day work when seen through the eyes of students
- Face a different challenge to that of everyday work
- Enjoy a sense of achievement after delivering an activity
- Help make a difference in the local community
- Challenge stereotypes young people have about STEM subjects and related careers
- Strengthen your own skills, including communication, planning and presentation skills
- Have lots of fun and enjoy the buzz and energy from the young people!
