Educational Work

Science Oxford Networks works in collaboration with other organisations that link businesses and STEM employees with education and schools. Examples of projects we have done recently or currently include:

Stimulating Physics:

Science Oxford have been running the Careers and Enterprise strand of Stimulating Physics in Oxfordshire. We have run the ‘Ashfield Music Festival’ enterprise workshop for 5 schools in the last year, and teacher CPD for 36 teachers based on careers from Physics.

Ingenious:

For 18 months Science Oxford has been running a ‘Engineering Impact’, a project to help engineering companies to promote their work to public audiences. Companies involved include Crown Packing Plc, Fugro Geoconsulting, Regenatec and STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

STEMNET contracts:

Science Oxford holds both of the STEMNET contracts for supporting schools in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (MKOB). Through the STEM Brokerage contract we have a role in informing local schools about opportunities which can help to support the enrichment and enhancement of their STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Through the STEM Ambassadors scheme we match enthusiastic scientists, engineers and mathematicians with local schools looking for volunteers to support their classes, after school clubs, competitions or anything else. To find out how to become an ambassador click here.

Nuffield Science Bursaries

We have managed the Nuffield Science Bursaries scheme in Oxfordshire for nearly 10 years, finding inspiring projects for keen Year 12 students to spend their summer holidays doing. If you would be interested in hosting a student placement visit here.
